WHY SETTER VISION?
I am choosing to share my story because I want others to feel the love of Jesus Christ. I hope that through this platform I can connect more people with Christ. The mission of God is spreading His love and getting to share my faith story is an example of practicing this mission.
When I am playing sports I try to treat not only others but myself with kindness. I keep positive self-talk by thinking about how God would talk to me. Many parts of volleyball are mental and it is easy to get into your head, but if you give yourself positive talk you can keep your confidence and composure.
One reason I chose Hope College was because of the amazing faith environment they have. When choosing a college one thing I was really looking for was a Christian campus and Hope had an amazing Christian campus with so much joy and life. I think sometimes in the recruiting process we can forget about the environment we want to be in, but I think it is a really important aspect during our college search journey.
- Matthew 7:12 says. "In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you." I strive to keep that in mind for myself and the teammates around me in order to show my faith.

What does it mean to "Run the Race with Perseverance"?
Running the race with perseverance means overcoming obstacles when being faced with adversity. We are all faced with challenges but how we get through them is because of our attitude, effort, and faith. In life we want to run, leap, and sprint with grace and there will be things in our way slowing us down, but if we find grit and push through we can keep our pace and cross the finish line stronger than when we started.
How do you "Give Everything" both on and off the court?
Giving everything on and off the court looks different within each group. On the court you need to be focused and be a good teammate giving your body to keep a ball off the ground or always being a smiling face for your teammates to look to. Giving everything off the court is about being the light you want others to see in you. you are at school, work, home, or the grocery store it is all shout being the best version of yourself and letting that light shine.
How do you "Keep Your Eyes on Jesus" while playing volleyball?
Keeping your eyes on Jesus on the court looks like having the knowledge that everything is in His hand, knowing volleyball is a game and it is not the most important thing. and knowing if you are facing struggles you can always look to Him.
